Hi guys, is your field suffering from insect pest? Lets share my knowledge.

About  175 insect pests have been recorded in  Bangladesh.Of these,20-33 species have been found more damaging for the rice crop.

Yield loss due to the infestation of major insect pests:

                    13% in Boro

                    24% in Aus

                    18% in Transplanted Aman

                    Average 18%

Have you heard the name of yellow stem borer. It is syraw colored. The females have a black spot on each forewing. Dead heart in the vegetative stage and white head in the flowering stge is the charecteristic damage symptom of the insect.To get rid of from the insect, you may cultivate BR1 variety or apply insecticide.

Have you seen rice hispa.Adult hispa’s are bluish black with spine on the body.Larvae of the hispa mines between the epidermal  layers creating irregular tunnels.The leaves look burned.You may clip the larvae infested leaves 2.5-3cm above the base or cultivate BR14 and BR25.

One of the most common insect that you seen in your field,I think it is grasshopper.They eat the leaves from the margin.you can apply recommended insecticide to destroy them.

You must have to be kept aware about green leafhopper. They suck sap from leaves.Early stage of rice plant is preferred by the insect.You can set light trap or can apply insecticide.

Brown planthopper is another insect that can make you landless.They suck sap from stem.Direct  feeding by a large number of hopper cause the plants to dry up and is known as hopper burn.You should avoid top dressing of nitrogenous fertilizers and cultivate BRRI dhan 35.

Rice bug is harmful to your crop as well as injurious to your body.It is the main grain sucking  insect in Bangladesh.It emits pungent repellent smell.It is the most furious thing for the inhabitants of BS dormitory of BSMRAU.

So be careful about it.
